Yes, God still speaks

logo

I was raised in a denomination where I was told that God wasn’t saying anything new. If you wanted to hear from God you had to read the Bible and that was it. I am so glad God still speaks to me today. I would be lost without his still small voice and his guidance.

Over the last week, my blog has been silent because I have been listening intently to my Father’s voice. If you haven’t noticed by my previous posts ROCK Church has been on a 21 day Daniel Fast. Words cannot begin to express what God has done in my husband, my children and myself.

God has opened some amazing doors for me and answered prayers. He has put me in places to give and receive. He has truly renewed my soul.  He has opened my eyes in some areas that needed to  be opened and given me direction. His peace and grace have sustained me through various circumstances. I am not afraid of what lies ahead, but excited of the direction he has for me.

I encourage everyone who is getting ready to complete the fast to share your experience.

I’m Proud of My Son

Being the mother of three boys brings it’s own set of challenges, but it also brings wonderful joy. Today, I experienced a sense of pride. My 13 year old son Gabriel makes me a proud mama.

He has been volunteering each Wednesday with Carolyn Mejia our media director for several months. She has been teaching him to run and program the lights for the services. He is like a kid in a candy store and loves what he is doing.

Each Wednesday, Carolyn picks Gabriel up from school and brings him to the office. He stays until Flipside youth each week and eats pizza at the meeting. This afternoon I received a call from Gabriel telling me that he didn’t have anything to eat for dinner and could I bring him something to eat.My heart leaped as I heard the words come out of his mouth.

He has been following the Daniel Fast with us. I had already planned to bring him dinner, but hadn’t stopped to call him and let him know.I am so proud of him and his heart. He and his brothers have had a wonderful attitude about the fast. They aren’t technically counting down the days, but the chapters left in John. Each chapter represents which day of the fast we are on.

Muffins on the Daniel Fast?

I have been searching the web for more recipes. Bran muffins are my favorite and blueberry muffins are most of my family’s favorite. They are easy to make ahead and grab for a quick breakfast.

After much searching, I have found a muffin recipe that is good and allowable on the Daniel Fast. It is easy, but each measurement must be followed exactly for good muffins.

Banana Muffins

  • 3 bananas
  • 1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mash bananas. Add all the other ingredients and mix until blended. This will not be thin like cake batter. I used a mini ice cream scoop to put in muffin papers. Bake for 18-20 minutes, until knife comes out clean. These muffins will be dark due to the whole wheat flour.

You can add other items like coconut, 3/4 cups fresh or thawed blueberries, raisins or other nuts.

I made two batches one with just bananas and the next with blueberries and bananas and both were delicious.
