The past month has been extremely enjoyable. I am loving the opportunity I have of taking care of my family. Washing clothes and cooking dinner may not seem like a dream life to you, but I am loving every moment.

Today, I had the amazing opportunity of spending time with Robin McGee. We are not related by blood, but marriage. She is Kevin McGee’s wife, and Kevin is Bryan’s cousin. We were all married the same summer. I am sure there are some pictures somewhere of us at the bridal shower the family gave us together.

Kevin and Robin are missionaries in Africa, and they have three beautiful children. Robin and I only see each other every few years and I love picking back up where we left off. I feel like we never miss a beat.

I love hanging out with people who love life and they do. No matter what they have been through they still have joy and enjoy life.

When major road construction is happening a detour is planned to take motorists on an alternate route. It gets them to the same destination, but just on a different road.

When things don’t go as planned I think of these things as detours and not distractions. The scenery may look different and the experience is not what is on my map.

This week has been a detour. I had planned to start this week out spending time with my boys and volunteering at the office. With a kidney stone and Papa in the hospital, things have not gone as planned. We are traveling on an alternate route.

When traveling on a detour, my attitude affects the ride and the other travelers. I can be thankful that God is faithful and that my steps are ordered or I can complain that this isn’t the route I had planned. I think I’ll choose to thank God for being faithful.
