Maybe a better way

Dealing with some physical issues has sometimes made it hard for me to cook for my family. Lately, I’ve been researching Once A Month Cooking or Investment cooking. If you are not familar with this method you may want to look deeper.

Meals are cooked or prepped for the month, usually 20 meals, and then frozen and pulled out when time to eat. There are websites that take the guess work out with menus, shopping lists, recipes and tasks. You can spend a day with a friend and have a month worth of meals for both families.

I am looking into this for our family and would love to have this planned for a month at a time. No more last minute trips to grocery store. Imagine what this would do for my food budget.

Here is the site I have visited the most:

Blurred Vision

logo

IMG_0608Our nine year old son Adam was squinting and having a hard time seeing things far off. I had noticed this even when he would be in a store and looking at something on a shelf. I made him an appointment with the eye doctor and my suspicions were confirmed, he needed glasses.

So many times I have gone through life trying to focus on things but they weren’t clear. God wants to give me focus and clear vision.  Like Adam, I can’t rely on my own eyesight.  I need God’s word to keep the vision in focus.

If I know God’s word then I know what is true.

Psalms 119:10 & 11

10 With my whole heart I have sought You;
Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!
11 Your word I have hidden in my heart,
That I might not sin against You.

Progress

Walking_Fracture-BootYesterday, Bryan graduated from a cast to a walking boot. I cannot tell you how excited both of us were. It has been almost six weeks since his surgery and the physician’s assistant we saw yesterday was impressed by his x-rays.

Today, he had his first physical therapy appointment and the therapist was encouraged by his progress. He is sore and uncomfortable, but did great at his appointment.

Patience doesn’t come quickly and we are both learning this lesson.

One Thing Off My List

knitting lessonFor over 1o years, I have wanted to learn how to do a specific craft. Once I had everything all set up to learn, but I was admitted to the hospital. Then I had three little boys running around and didn’t seem to have enough time.

In the last few years, my perspective on life has changed. I used to be so task oriented that my day was scheduled to the minute. My desire is to enjoy life not just finish a list or task. There will always be more laundry, dinners, bills, coupons and lists.

Several months ago, I decided I would not give up on learning this craft and would find someone to help me. I sent out a twitter, received a response, and set a date. Then life happened again and my date was cancelled. I was determined not to give up so easily this time.

Last week, I finally met with my friend, Coni and began learning my new craft, knitting. I am currently knitting a black scarf. ROCK Church gives scarves and hats to those who ride our vans and are in need. I am excited that my first project will be a gift for someone else.

Vacation or Bust?

logo

If you are the one who plans the family vacation then you know the pressure of making sure it is a good one. Each member of our family has a different interest and we want to make sure this vacation has something for everyone. With Bryan’s new iPhone 3Gs I’m sure there will be video of our vacation posted on his blog.

I have done my research online, talked to those who have recently visited, and made all our reservations. I decided to take snacks, drinks and some meals with us to offset the cost. Since we are not the average family with 2 kids we require a suite and the best deal includes a kitchen.

Right now I am sorting socks and laundry. 5 people have a lot of socks. I’m working on my to do list too. This list seems to keep getting longer.

Only 5 more days!
