It’s been a long time since I felt completely lost and out of place. Today I was there, but not for long because some amazing ladies showed me what to do and where to go.

We have made a change in our homeschooling and it is scary and exciting all at once. Last week we joined a Classical Conversations group. It is a completely different way of schooling my children with many facets for me to learn.

Several mom’s saw my glazed look and took me by the hand and helped me. Those same moms gave me their contact information and offered to help in any way. One mom even gave me her book with all the lesson plans because mine was on order.

Classical Conversations has a different method and many times feels like a secret language. I was scared and so was my son, but because of the support we experienced today we both know we can do this.

I imagine how I felt today is how many people feel when they walk in our churches. They don’t know anyone and it seems they are coming in right in the middle of something. We have a secret code language and sometimes even a special secret side hug. They feel awkward unless someone takes them by the hand.

A dear friend, Millie, who is an amazing photographer had day where she took photos of multiple families using a set. It was breathtaking to watch her work. This is just one shot of many. The header for my blog is one she took that day too. I love how she captured my boys.

They are scurrying around making sure each line is filled in appropriately and the proper documentation is available if needed. There are exemptions that can be taken if you qualify for them on your taxes.

Even though I am a Christ follower, I will still experience sorrow, pain, sadness, and hurt, I am not exempt. The difference between myself and a non-Christ follower, I have the power of Jesus Christ to overcome the situations and circumstances that come into my life. Many times the overcoming is a process and a path Jesus takes me on.

Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting a gracious woman who had prayed for her husband for many years. She had loved him, honored him and watched him almost destroy his life. He told me how God took him to the edge of death and gave him the opportunity to see how he was living. He gave his life to Christ and has followed him for a year now.

His wife had a copy of “The Power of a Praying Woman” with her. The cover was worn and tattered and the pages were coming loose from the book. She shared with me how she had prayed this book over her husband and how it had changed her life.

For the next 31 days, including Saturday and Sunday, I will be blogging from The Power of a Praying Woman by Stormie Omartian. Join me as I examine different areas of my life.

This weekend was not our normal Easter weekend. A long time member of our church passed from this life into the next to be face to face with Jesus. With this has come many emotions because he had a long illness, but our hearts hurt to be with him.

On Sunday evening, after spending a day celebrating the resurrection of our Saviour, our family came together to have dessert and hunt for eggs. We changed our plans due to the events of the weekend. It would have been easy to for go everything all together, but family is worth it.

To make it even more special for us all, I made Bryan’s grandmother’s famous Sour Cream Pound Cake. It is comfort food that melts in your mouth and was devoured, savored and mashed into mouths.

I am so thankful to Papa and Nana who let us crash their house with dessert and eggs one hour after their arrival from Florida. They had been there due to Papa’s father’s health.

Nothing is more important to me except my relationship with Jesus Christ than my family. I treasure you all my loves.

I am excited about sleeping late and spending time with them. I am hoping for beautiful weather so we can spend some of it outside.

My plan for today was turned upside down when I ended up in the dentist chair getting crowned, so I decided to plan our menu and activities for next week. By mapping out some ideas it will help me make sure the boys and I are able to do some things together within our budget.

What are you doing for spring break?

Dealing with some physical issues has sometimes made it hard for me to cook for my family. Lately, I’ve been researching Once A Month Cooking or Investment cooking. If you are not familar with this method you may want to look deeper.

Meals are cooked or prepped for the month, usually 20 meals, and then frozen and pulled out when time to eat. There are websites that take the guess work out with menus, shopping lists, recipes and tasks. You can spend a day with a friend and have a month worth of meals for both families.

I am looking into this for our family and would love to have this planned for a month at a time. No more last minute trips to grocery store. Imagine what this would do for my food budget.

Here is the site I have visited the most:

I had noticed this even when he would be in a store and looking at something on a shelf. I made him an appointment with the eye doctor and my suspicions were confirmed, he needed glasses.

So many times I have gone through life trying to focus on things but they weren’t clear. God wants to give me focus and clear vision. Like Adam, I can’t rely on my own eyesight. I need God’s word to keep the vision in focus.

I cannot tell you how excited both of us were. It has been almost six weeks since his surgery and the physician’s assistant we saw yesterday was impressed by his x-rays.

Today, he had his first physical therapy appointment and the therapist was encouraged by his progress. He is sore and uncomfortable, but did great at his appointment.

Patience doesn’t come quickly and we are both learning this lesson.
