Praying for my husband

Several years ago, I read the book “The Power of a Praying Wife” it is a powerful book. It changed my perspective on how to pray for my husband. It also changed my attitude on who I was to be and things God wanted to change in me.

The last several weeks, I have been praying for my husband a lot. As he has made the transisition to senior pastor, God has given clear direction on how to pray for Bryan. He has been in the ministry for 17 years, but never been the senior pastor. With this new responsiblity comes a new level of prayer for me.

Today I read a Holly Furtick’s post on How to pray. It was great! I know there are people that pray for my husband, myself and my family. I also know that I cannot rely on others to pray for my family. They are my first ministry.

Recently Jim Wideman wrote a post on Setting Priorities. After Christ, my husband should be my first priority. If I am praying for everyone else and not praying for him, or I am doing for everyone else and don’t have time to pray for him then I have my priorities messed up.

Constantly I must realign my priorities, so I keep them straight.

What’s for dinner?

Bryan and Noah are still in the Washington, D.C. area, so it is hard for me to get motivated to cook anything. I ordered my groceries online Monday night and picked them up yesterday while Adam was at football practice. Of course I made sure there were some freezer meals in my order.

Our dinners this week have definitely not been our normal fare. They would definitely not pass the test for a Daniel Fast.  Elevation Church where Steven Furtick is the pastor, just finished a Daniel Fast  and Lifepoint Church where Jeff Kapusta is the pastor, are doing one right now. Maybe we should go on a Daniel Fast as a family when Bryan and Noah get back?

Here is our menu for tonight:

top left: Adam’s fish sticks, top center: My lean cuisine, top right: Gabriel’s frozen dinner
Bottom left: Sadie eating her normal food. She is back to normal.
