Building Relationships

Over the years I have heard people say that people didn’t invite them out. I guess I have not had this problem because I love to invite people to do things, even if its just for  frozen pizza at my house.

Today, we had the priviledge of having some singles over for lunch. Since we are on the Daniel Fast this was a challenge, and it was Sunday. I am not sure why, but on Sunday mornings our house looks like a tornado touched down.

With a little pre-planning I knew this would work. We straightened up the house last night and this morning, not perfect just decent. Yesterday, I made some veggie chili and washed and wrapped the large potatoes in foil. This morning I put the potatoes in the oven and set it  to cook while we were at church. When we arrived at home we ate baked potatoes with veggie chili on top and salad. It was quite good and we were all full.

The best part of the meal was learning a little bit new about each of our guests. It doesn’t take much to get to know someone else just some effort.

I never imagined!

I had done my homework on the Daniel Fast before we started. Thank you to all the people that have posted recipes and your experiences because this has been helpful.

It has been a great experience so far. We have been reading the book of John as a family each night, discussing what we read and praying together. This has been amazing. Listening to my children share about their thoughts on the scripture.

There is one unexpected effect from the fast. My stomach has been quite interesting and this has become my friend. I am not sure if it is working yet. I have spoken with a couple of close friends and apparently they are having the same experience.

I am driving to a conference to hear Lisa Bevere tomorrow. Of course my lunch and snacks will go with me.
