Building Relationships

Over the years I have heard people say that people didn’t invite them out. I guess I have not had this problem because I love to invite people to do things, even if its just for frozen pizza at my house.
Today, we had the priviledge of having some singles over for lunch. Since we are on the Daniel Fast this was a challenge, and it was Sunday. I am not sure why, but on Sunday mornings our house looks like a tornado touched down.
With a little pre-planning I knew this would work. We straightened up the house last night and this morning, not perfect just decent. Yesterday, I made some veggie chili and washed and wrapped the large potatoes in foil. This morning I put the potatoes in the oven and set it to cook while we were at church. When we arrived at home we ate baked potatoes with veggie chili on top and salad. It was quite good and we were all full.
The best part of the meal was learning a little bit new about each of our guests. It doesn’t take much to get to know someone else just some effort.

a new way i’ve started doing potatoes is very yum-o as rachel ray says. no foil. coat potatoes in canola oil sprinkle sea salt (or regular salt, Lawrey’s, etc) on them and put them directly on the rack with a cookie sheet on the 2nd rack to catch the grease. makes for a flavorful crispier skin and yummy potato!

I am very proud of my grandson, Gabriel for choosing to stay on the Daniel Fast in spit of pizza being served. However, I am very proud of his Mom and Dad who are godly examples to him. I know the Daniel fast can be at times alot of work because of the schedule you keep. I admire you Jen as the chief cook at your home to make it work for your family. Your kids will have great memories of all the foods they ate but most of all they will have in their heart forever what God did in them and through them.Great Job Jen! Love, Mom
