Lights Out

Over the past 6 weeks I have dealt with my share of Sunday morning hurdles. I usually get very focused when dealing with them. Through past experiences in life I have learned to be prepared as much as you can so that if the unexpected happens you have time to deal with it and I pray alot!

Sunday morning the projector was out in The Theater. This is a huge deal since the curriculum we use is on DVD and shown on the large screen. What do we do with 50 kids for 2 hours? I spoke with one of my team and we discussed taking the kids to the fellowship hall. We reorganized the schedule and went straight into small groups. Myself and one of our sound guys went to get the fellowship hall ready for the lesson.

Off we go with 50 kids down the hall to the fellowship hall. We had to notify the ushers in case the parents came during the lesson and put a portable sign that told our location. The kids did extremely well and so did the team. No one missed a beat. It was as if nothing had happened and we were supposed to go on a field trip. We were back in The Theater for another activity and ready for parent pick up.

I can’t imagine what I would do or where Kids ROCK would be without the amazing volunteers that serve every week.

I wish it were writers block

No, I have not had writers block. On the contrary I have a lot to write about, but you will have to wait until I am strong enough to write about it. Take for instance the last three days I have been in bed sicker than I have ever been. Well, I haven’t wanted to talk to anyone on the phone and I don’t remember that ever happening.

It all started Friday night, when we went to help out Bryan’s parents with their JOY fellowship Bingo night. He was calling Bingo as Elvis and I started feeling pretty yucky. After that the last couple of days are a blurr of movies and a great book on organization.

Bryan told me about this book called “Getting Things Done”. I seem to need more organization in my life, since I am afraid my house and office are going to get a Clean Sweep intervention at any moment. Well, I finished the book this morning in my insomniac state. If you can get everything done and you never feel frazzled then leave this book for those of us who really need it. If your spices are alphabetized and you already have a birthday card for everyone for 2008 then this book is not for you.

I am looking forward to retraining my mind and getting things done. This is a great read even in a weakened state.
